About the performance: Moby Dick is a show created by Teatro dei Venti, freely inspired by the namesake novel by Herman Melville. The show brings Captain Ahab’s ship and his obsession to find the White Whale to the streets, with a huge theatrical machine and a crew of 20 artists, including actors, musicians, acrobats and technicians.
Moby Dick is, as writer Cesare Pavese wrote in the introduction to the novel with his translation, “the allegory of the spasmodic pursuit, of a thirst for knowledge and for revenge, of the relationship between good and evil, of the ferociousness and of the devastating force of nature and of man”.
About the theater: Teatro dei Venti is an Italian theater company that, since 2005, has been producing shows and implementing projects with the aim of uniting creativity and community for effective social cohesion.
Their productions have toured Italy and abroad. They hold permanent workshops inside the correctional facilities of Modena and Castelfranco Emilia and are members of the Emilia-Romagna Prison Theatre Coordination.
As for their social activity, they promote projects for international cooperation (Mozambique, Serbia, Senegal) and for mental health in partnership with the Mental Health Department of the Modena AUSL (local health authority).
