About the performance: Luxuria transports the audience into the world of suspense, intrigue, the complex power dynamics of passion, love, madness, and tragedy.
The performance creates this attractive world while highlighting the innovative style of Barcelona Flamenco Ballet, which fuses elements of traditional flamenco dance and music with elements of ballet and more contemporary music, including classical and jazz.
A story of love, desire and tragedy in which the protagonist of Luxuria is consumed by doubt, pride, insanity and, finally, in which loneliness and despair threaten his relationship with the greatest love of his life.
About the theater: Since 2017, this international company of flamenco dance, Barcelona Flamenco Ballet, has been consolidated as a reference space, a symbol of Catalan art, and a meeting point for the recognition of great dance and music professionals. All in all, this company is the beating heart of flamenco.
Throughout this short but intense journey, after international success in countries such as China, the United States of America, Bulgaria, France, Latvia, Lebanon, Romania, or Serbia, they have become one of the most popular dance companies in the world. We have also made a place for ourselves on the billboards of many national theatres in Spain, such as in the cities of Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, Menorca, and Guadalajara.
The main aim of the Barcelona Flamenco Ballet is to promote Barcelona’s art throughout the world, boost Catalan culture (which is still fairly unknown throughout the world), and provide an opportunity for young talents in the Catalan flamenco scene.
