The workshop explores how historical trauma can be transposed on stage without falling into pathos.

Participants will learn techniques for working with dramatic text in sensitive contexts, exploring methods of constructing extreme states and authentic presence. Starting from the play Helver’s Night, the director will guide practical exercises with the actors. The work will focus on the relationship between text, corporeality, and historical memory.

The workshop is intended for actors, directors, and stage designers.

About the Author:

Giorgi Tavadze is an internationally acclaimed Georgian director, Artistic Director of the Lado Meskhishvili Professional State Drama Theatre in Kutaisi.

A graduate of the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film University in Tbilisi, he has staged productions on the stages of Georgia’s national theatres.

His production Helver’s Night is an acclaimed international co‑production.

Under his leadership, the theatre in Kutaisi has focused on modernizing the creative process.
