Content:

Participants will work directly with fragments from classical texts, applying historical research techniques to deepen the subtext.

The actress will guide practical exercises in historical contextualization and character analysis, emphasizing the connection between rigorous research and emotional authenticity.

It will be demonstrated how documentation can radically transform the construction of a role. The exercises will explore the relationship between historical truth and stage truth.

The workshop is intended for actors, directors, and performing arts students.

 

About the Author:
Maia Morgenstern is one of the most highly regarded contemporary Romanian actresses, internationally recognized for her talent.

She graduated from UNATC in 1985 and led the State Jewish Theatre for 12 years (2012–2024).

Her role as the Virgin Mary in The Passion of the Christ (directed by Mel Gibson) brought her global fame, while for the role of Nela in The Oak (Balanța) (Lucian Pintilie) she received the European Film Academy Award.

She is a laureate of the French Order of Arts and Letters and the recipient of multiple UNITER awards.
